The result of the vice -president elections: Governor Maharashtra and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) CP Radhakrishnan were elected on Tuesday.
Radhakrishnan packed 452 votes against nominated for a nominee for Bloc opposition and 300 votes of the Supreme Court B Sudershan Reddy, in the middle of hints of a cross vote in favor of the winning candidate.

Secretary General Rajya Sabha and the returning PC Mody officer said that 767 deputies from 781 handed over their votes with a total participation of 98.2 %. Mods said that 752 ballots were valid and 15 were invalid, which overthrowed the required majority of the first preferential votes at 377.
“I declare CP Radhakrishnan chosen as Vice President of India and the results will be communicated to the election commission,” Mody said.
Overcome the expectations of BJP
The victory of Radhakrishnan, 67, a seasoned politician from Tamil over with the RSS roots since childhood and a decade long Stint first in Jan Sangh and then BJP, was the previous conclusion due to the numeric edge of the ruling alliance in the house.
The NDA led by BJP had 427 MP on paper and 11 MPS YSRCP support. Some deputies representing smaller parties also supported him. As a result, Radhakrishnan’s victory was a lost conclusion, above the middle of 377.

But the ultimate sum exceeded the expectations of the BJP, which hoped for about 440 votes for Radhakrishnan.
“Negotiation” for the Indian Block?
The extent of his margin of victory for candidate NDA came as a failure in the opposition of India, which claimed that all its 315 deputies remained unified in the elections and voted for Reddy.
Soon after the vote ended on Tuesday at 5 pm, the leader of the Jairam Ramesh Congress in the X post said that the opposition was united. “All 315 deputies have appeared for voting. This is an unprecedented 100 % participation.”
Reddy, however, won only 300 votes.
BJP leaders quickly claimed that Radhakrishnan had also pulled support from members of the competing camp.
Ramesh said that the performance of the opposition in vice -presidential elections was “decent” and noted that his joint candidate Justice B Sudershan Reddy (RETD) secured 40 percent of the vote.
While Radhakrishnan received 60 percent of the total votes in question, his predecessor Jagdeep Dhankhar won a huge margin in the elections by 2022 and secured 74.36 percent of the total valid votes. Dhankhar packed 528 votes out of a total of 710 valid votes.

“The election of the vice -president is carried out in a free and fair way, the vote takes place with secrecy, and many opposition deputies also voted for CP Radhakrishnan, which shows that MPs voted by listening to their conscience,” Rijiju told reporters.
Soft, non -confrontational hand RSS
Experts said that Radhakrishnan’s candidacy was primarily driven by his ideological anchor when the NDA led by BJP chose it for the competition.
Strongly rooted in RSS and BJP, Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, a double former Coimbatore deputy, brings rich political and administrative experience, which will show up in his role as chairman of ex officio Rajya Sabha.
Radhakrishnan was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), ideological mentor of the party Bharatiya Janata (BJP), from the age of 16.
In 1974 he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Bharatiya Janasanggh. Jana Sangh was founded in 1951 Syam Prasad Mukherjee before the BJP became 1980.
BJP chose Dhankha, perhaps because of his credentials, a community that was angry with its controversial farm laws. Dhankhar, however, did not prove to be too good and stopped two years before his term ended, even though he quoted health reasons.
Dhankhar was known for his frequent runs with the opposition and even faced the announcement of the indictment.
Radhakrishnan’s nomination is also considered to be “correction of the course” within the BJP. Radhakrishnan is considered a soft and non -confrontational leader with strong RSS roots.
Cross -voting concerns?
The NDA led by BJP had 427 MP in its alliance, while the YSR Congress also expanded the support of its 11 parliamentarians to its candidate. Some deputies representing smaller parties also supported Radhakrishnana.
Some BJP leaders proposed that at least 15 opposition deputies voted for Radhakrishnan. The ruling alliance also indicated that some of the opposition deputies deliberately handed over invalid voices.
MP Bjp Sanjay Jaiswal claimed that “almost 40 opposition deputies” listened to their voice of their conscience and voted “in some way” to support the NDA candidate and showed a wider acceptance for him. It seemed that his assertion of support of 40 opposition deputies included 15 invalid votes.
Minister of the Union Kiren Rijija claimed on Tuesday that many opposition deputies voted in favor of Vice Presidential NDA CP Radhakrishnan.
The cross -voting in favor of the NDA candidate, if it ever happened, is contrary to the opposition that some deputies could change loyalty to the Indian nominated nominee, especially after the “pad” with former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Tamil Nadu project
Radhakrishnan is the third leader of Tamil Nadu to occupy a sought -after post.
Tamil Nadu is one of the aspiration states in the south. The State Vice President sends positive signals before the Tamil Nadu Election Assembly.
“Radhakrishnan, who has been associated with RSS from an early age, is a smart election, because the state to which it belongs to Tamil Nadu goes to public opinion next year. Although the BJP itself has a limited share of AIADM voting,” political analyst, “political analytics,” recently.
Radhakrishhnan comes from the caste of the Gounder, who believed to be politically gathering for AIADMK, the biggest ally of BJP in Tamil Nadu. E Palaniswami, the head of AIADMK and the former main minister Tamil Nadu belongs to the same community.
Radhakrishnan was elected from the industrial city of Coimbor in Tamil Nadu in 1998 and 1999 with the support of AIADMK and DMK.
Metaphor
“When the ObC became a powerful” metaphor “of politics in the country, both BJP and Congress, the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need for caste census – BJP again introduced into the announcement,” again in its Indian express column.
Chowdhury points out that the first three offices in the country are now occupied by the woman Adivasi (President) and two men from the community of the municipality, one of the south (vice president) and the other from the West referring to Pan-India (Prime Minister).

This step also strengthens the alliance with AIADMK recognizing the political influence of the Goundder community
The election of the Vice President is carried out in a free and fair way, and many opposition deputies also voted for the CP Radhakrishnan, which shows that MEPs voted by listening to their conscience.
Former President BJP in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai, also comes from the background Gounder. This shared caste identity has a significant election weight and Radhakrishnan’s promotion is considered to be a step to consolidate the base of the wheels.
