
Andhra Pradesh has expanded the suspension of two higher IPS officers, P. Sitharama Anjaneyulu (1992 Batch) and Kanthi Rana Tata (2004 Batch), for another six months, while the ongoing investigation in a significant criminal case quoted ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct.
According to the orders issued on Tuesday, the suspension of both officers will remain in force until March 8, 2026 or other commands.
Mr. Anjaneyulu was originally suspended in September 2024 pursuant to Rule 3 (1) of the rules for all India (discipline and appeal) of 1969 for the alleged abuse of his powers in CR. No. 90/2024 Police Station Ibrahimpatnam here.
He was accused of quick tracking of the case including actress Kadambari Narendra Kumar Jethwani based in Mumbai without reasonable control. The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously confirmed its suspension and the Audit Committee subsequently recommended its regular extension.
Similarly, Mr. Kanthi Rana Tata was suspended on the basis of the accusation of not providing this same case properly supervising, and allegedly allowing arrests without ensuring a thorough examination of the complaint and basic investigation. Its suspension was also confirmed by the center and extended several times after the review of the committee established according to the AIS rules.
During the alleged incident, Mr. Anjaneyulu was the head of the AP news and Mr. Tata was the police commissioner Vijayawady.
At its last inspection meeting held on 2 September 2025, the committee noted that key documentary evidence in CR. 469/2024 The Ibrahimpatnam police station was still under control. He expressed concern that the renewal of officers at this stage could affect the investigation process.
The Chief Secretary of K. Vijayanand, who issued orders in the name of the Governor, ordered the CEO to the police to deliver the notice of extension and ensure compliance.
