Jio Platforms reportedly works with technology giants like NVIDIA to undermine the Indian artificial intelligence (AI) space similar to how it uses competitive pricing and unlimited mobile data access to disrupt the telecom industry. According to the report, Jio is working with several companies to jointly develop local large language models (LLMS). The company reportedly hopes to start providing businesses with affordable AS-AS-Service and Agentic AI applications, according to reports. In addition, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) also participated in the government’s Indian AI mission.
Jio Platform is reportedly preparing AI scripts for India
The Economic Times reported that the Jio platform now destroys India’s AI space by providing businesses with affordable AI tools and proxy applications. The publication quoted a senior executive who spoke on condition of anonymity, claiming that Jio is working with NVIDIA and other technology giants and also provides hardware support to run AI inferences.
Jio platform reportedly plans to grant it RS after it is granted to Indian AI missions. The government’s Rs 10,300 crore project will provide GPU-AS-A-Service to start-ups and researchers at “the most competitive price in the world”. The company has reportedly partnered with NVIDIA to secure its Blackwell GPU for this purpose.
Executives also reportedly stressed that Jio is currently working to provide affordable AI to businesses and individuals for all three avenues of AI infrastructure (device, cloud services and high-speed broadband networks).
“The AI mission is an initiative of the government to provide GPU at the cost of subsidies. For example, assuming the price is Rs 25 per GPU hour,” the executive told the Economic Times. The government will subsidize Rs 5-10. We (Jio and others) as suppliers will compete for lower prices to Rs 25.”
It is worth noting that earlier this year, Jio Platforms announced Jio Brain, a 5G integrated AI and machine learning (ML) enterprise platform. According to reports, the company said it is also looking for ways to currencies currency.
At the moment when different players provide different services, India’s AI space is stripped. While Google, Amazon, Nvidia, and Microsoft have been trying to enter the space with integrated AI services, the enterprise prices of their products are said to be very steep, resulting in slow technology adoption.
If Jio can provide services where front-end AI tools are provided, back-end LLMS, as well as cloud services that run data processing, are priced competitively, and it can accelerate AI adoption in enterprises.
