In addition, the changing global geopolitics took the toll of the prospects of Keraral. The recent war of Russian-Ukraine has also influenced the influx of tourists. Wellness tourists in the state are mainly from CIS countries, except for a small segment from Western Asian countries. The leisure time segment is dominated by EU, Great Britain, US and Scandinavian countries.
Spent days
The average tourist of the wellness, who comes to Kerala, spends about 14 days for treatment and the stay would be extended up to 30 days if he was associated with a free time trip, while the leisure traveler spends an average of five days and visits the South Indian tourist circuit.
The poor condition of roads in Kerala, especially the national highway, and the maintenance of destinations are also demanding factors to keep this sector above the water in a highly competitive segment, the initiates of industry said.
