Seven sentenced to prison in Hyderabad drunk and controlled interventions
As part of the ongoing enforcement of drink-driving, seven motorists have been sentenced to prison following a trial initiated by the Hyderabad traffic police. Over the past three weeks, 30 people arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol have been brought to court.
After hearing the cases, the court sentenced one respondent to 15 days of imprisonment, four respondents to seven days each, one respondent to four days and another respondent to two days. In total, seven offenders were sentenced to prison terms, while the remaining respondents were fined and ordered to perform community service.
The event is part of a city-wide drive under the influence of alcohol and driving that is being carried out around the clock. Traffic police officials said strict legal action is being taken against those caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities have again urged the public not to drink and drive, warning that such behavior poses a serious risk to life and road safety. Citizens were urged to strictly follow traffic regulations and thus ensure their own safety and the safety of other road users.
