The Ministry of the Environment allowed the creation of a new, independent class “environmental auditors”, which complements the work of the State Council for Pollution Control (PCB) in checking and verifying projects for adherence to environmental laws. Private, accredited agencies can also be studied by environmental impact assessment, which will then be evaluated by expert committees.
According to the new rules called the Rules for Environmental Audit, 2025, private agencies can accredit themselves as auditors. Like authorized accountants, environmental auditors can use licenses and be allowed to evaluate compliance with environmental laws and compliance with proven procedures in the prevention, control and reduction of pollution.
“The overall framework for monitoring and compliance with regulations within the existing environmental framework is currently supported by the CPCB Central Council, the regional authorities of the Ministry and the PCBS/Pollution Committees, which are on average facing significant restrictions and industrial cohesion and industrial number. They have carried out projects and industrial cohesion, to make an industrial number, and to express and express industrial compliance with the vulnerable number.
“The aim of this system is to bridge the deficits of the workforce and infrastructure facing the regulatory authorities and thus strengthen the effective implementation of the environmental compliance mechanisms.
The audits performed by these private agencies can also be used to comply with the rules of green loans, according to which individuals and organizations can obtain, among other things, tradable “credits” for afforestation, sustainable economy and waste management.
Auditors can also check compliance with the Ecomark rules, 2024; E-Waste rules (management), 2022; Plastic waste management rules, 2016; and the rules of battery waste management, 2022, among other things, issued by the Ministry of the Environment, a change in forest and climate from time to time, including the rules under the delivery (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) ADHINIYAM, 1980; Wild Life Act (protection), 1972; and the rules or regulations framed accordingly, the accompanying announcement of the Bulletin 29 said.
