
Retailers with values such as V2 Retail LTD, V-Mart Retail LTD, Bazaar Style Retail Ltd, Vishal Mega Mart Ltd and City Kart, strengthen their presence across two states and open new stores to capture a larger share in the growing market.
Retailed values with values are retailers who sell particulars, households and fashion goods at available prices and focus on the consumers of the mass market in smaller cities.
“Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have a lot of cities and districts with huge populations. Therefore, these are the best battlefields or the best places to experiment with their model,” said Lalit agarwal, CEO (CEO) of V-art, via Mint call.
V-Mart is a company based in West Bengal, which made the largest bet among all retailers in these two countries. The company has a network of 510 shops across the country, with almost half of them concentrating in Uttar Pradesh (158) and Bihar (72). In the last three years, of the 119 stores that the company added, 34 were opened in UP and 16 in Bihar. City Kart is even more concentrated in two countries. Of the 146 shops throughout India, 64 in UP and 57 in Bihar. This means that more than 80% of its entire trade base is found only in these two countries, making it one of the most regional retailers in the country.
City Kart is a retail chain based on Gurgaon-based values that focuses on affordable fashion and lifestyle products for shopping medium and lower revenues in Tier-2 and Tier-3. It was founded in 2016 by Sudhansh, Rohit and Sunita Agarwal.
Vishal Mega Mart has almost two thirds of their 717 shops concentrated in the region, so Uttar Pradesh and Bihar key markets for retailer. The company does not publish state data.
Bazaar Style Retail is another retail seller of fashion who is constantly expanding in UP and Bihar. Since June, the company has been operating 25 UP and 30 shops in Bihar, together they make up almost a quarter of its 232 stores across the country. The retailer has added eight new stores in these two countries in the last year.
Shreyans Surana, CEO of Bazaar’s retail style, explained the strategy for the expansion of trade, said in analyst 15 May that the company focuses on the expansion of states neighboring those where they already operate.
“Right now, we are mainly focused on UP and Jharkand as a territory, say, Jharkhand and Bihar. And there are still a lot of shops that can be opened in these areas,” he said.
Sandeep Abhange, a research analyst, consumer and midcaps in LKP Securities, said there was a great shift in India with more and more rural populations that warmed into organized retail.
“Now most of this rural population, which once depended on unorganized players, is moving to organized players on the market,” he said. “When the consumer sees Zudio, they would like to enter and buy clothes because it is more or less the same price, moreover they give better quality and people prefer zudio over an unorganized player because of the whole shopping experience,” he said.
Both Borha and Uttar Pradesh have seen a constant increase in revenue per capita in recent years and have been translated into a growing purchasing power.
