On Tuesday (September 2, 2025), the Karnataka Government has established a four -member committee, headed by the Commissioner of Greater Bengaluruurit (GBA) M. Maleshwar Rao, to establish the boundaries for the newly created five corporations. The government also issued detailed instructions for the process of defining.
The Committee includes Jagadeesha G., Deputy Commissioner in Bengalur Urban District, and Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Administration, Income and IT) and the Supreme Officer among the Commissioners of Five Corporations.
According to the government schedule, the committee must submit a proposal for MAPs of the Department by 23 September. The proposal of the announcement will be issued on 26 September, after which public proposals and objections will be accepted by October 10. The final proposal that these objections will be submitted on October 17, and the government will issue a final announcement of November 1.
Rules for defining
As a base, the Committee must use the population of the census in 2011, updated by 2023 projections.
Each department will represent about 20,000 inhabitants, with the permissible variation plus or minus 25%to ensure a balanced representation.
The department must not fall into two different constituents of the Sabha for Vishan.
The boundaries of the department must maintain the balance of the population, the interests of the community and the geographical connection.
The department should be adjacent.
In areas with hills or forests, the committee must consider geography, commuting feasibility and public comfort.
Natural boundaries, such as roads and drains, should be used to define, and existing administrative and community units should be intact whenever possible.
The government has set clear instructions for the department. Each corporation can have a maximum of 150 departments and the committee must strive to maintain the balance of the population in them. It also ordered that no Ward should exceed two corporations or two different constituencies.
Based on the census in 2011, the population of the Bengaluru 85 Lakhů stood. By 2023, it is estimated that it increased to 144 lakh. The government also assumed an increase within each corporation: the East increased from 9 lakhs in 2011 to 13 lamps in 2023; West of 26 lakhs to 45 lakhs; central area from 15 lakh to 25 lakh; north from 18 lakh to 31 lakh; and south from 17 lakh to 30 lakh. The government also recorded a sharp increase in the population density to a square km.

Population of the People Census in 2011 as a base
The Committee for Definition will redraw the boundaries of the department by means of the population of the People in 2011 as a base, updated by projections of 2023. Each department will represent about 20 000 inhabitants, with the permissible variation plus or minus 25%to ensure balanced representation.

Representatives of the Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said each corporation will have the potential to produce at least 100 leaders with the same representation for men and women. He added that the structure of the management will also ensure the corresponding representation for the members of the back grade.
