K. Poeenkumar, President of the District Congress Congress in Kozhikod (DCC), was accused by the district collector Snehil Kumar Singh of violating the rules in the division of four departments in Gram Chakkitapar Panchayat.
On Tuesday, he told the media that after the last date of complaints related to the Ward department, an order that reworked the department in Panchayat has already expired. The final list of voters is going to publish. Mr. Poeenkumar said that Congress had filed a petition at the High Court in Kerala.
He argued that the united democratic front (UDF) had so far filed over 900 complaints related to the division of the department. The district collector, who is also a district officer for local elections in the local authority, has not taken any steps towards any of them, but resorted to the “unusual step” in the case of Chakkittapa Grama Panchayat himself, said Mr. Poeenkumar. He claimed that this followed complaints filed by the local leaders of the Indian Communist Party (Marxist) and Panchayat officials.
He claimed that CPI (M) feared that four departments would vote for UDF candidates for Panchayat. Meanwhile, the District President, the Indian Union of the Muslim League, had argued that the district collector had abused his forces. Both leaders stated that UDF would initiate a protest if the order was not canceled.
