At least two workers were killed and 20 others were injured after the explosion launched a fire at the textile manufacturing unit in Surrat District of Gujarat on Monday (September 1, 2025), the officials said.

The incident occurred in the textile mill Santosh in the village of Jolva afternoon after the chemical drum exploded, Sub Divisional Magistrate VK Pipaliya said.
“The explosion led to a fire, resulting in the death of two workers on the spot and left 20 other injured. He is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Surrat,” Mr. Pipaliya told reporters on the spot.
He said that the cause of the explosion cannot be identified immediately.
“Of the 20 workers who were admitted to the hospital, there are two in critical condition,” he said, adding that at least 10 fire offers came on the spot to emerge a fire that was still raging.
