
Ten villages in the Mandya district were selected for the model competition of solar villages as part of the premiere of Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-Mby).
According to the census criteria in 2011, a village with more than 5,000 inhabitants. In accordance with Kennal and Gummanahalli in Pandavapura Taluk; Belagola and Arakere in Srirangapatna Taluk; Keelar and Santhekasalagere in Mandya Taluk; Besagarahalli and Kestur in Maddur Taluk; And Belakavadi and Kirugaval in Malavalli Taluk were chosen.
The Committee for the Working Group will be established under the guidance of officers of the development of Panchayat (PDOS) in each of these villages. Several awareness and promotional programs will be made to ensure effective participation in the competition, the press release said.
Households in selected villages will be encouraged to install solar roof systems in the PMSG-Mby scheme. Farmers will also be motivated to accept solar pumps under Kusum-B and support will be provided for land (government/private) under Kusum-C. Solar energy will also be implemented for drinking water supply and street lighting in government offices and buildings.
The competition, which started in July, will continue for six months. At the end of this period, the village with the highest acceptance of renewable energy will be declared as a “model solar village” and, according to the Ministry Directive, will receive an incentive from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The Committee at the district level was created under the chairman of the deputy Commissioner for the implementation of Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Mandy district. As members of the committee, the CEO of Zilla Panchayat, Tahsildars, Cesc Engineers and Panchayat Development will be present.
