
Three men died and others were critically injured after the inhalation of the poisonous gas inside the newly built sewer tank in the Akbarpur area in the Kanpur District Dehat, the police said on Sunday (August 31, 2025).
Police Supervisor Arvind Mishr said that the death occurred on Saturday (August 30, 2025) due to toxic vapors inside a 10 -foot tank.
The injured individual undergoes treatment and is under investigation, he added.
The Station House officer (sho) from Akbarpur Satish Singh said that the worker Mubeen (26), the inhabitants of Bigahi, entered the tank for the first time to remove the stress material and collapsed because of the suffocation.
When he saw him imprisoned, the owner of the Surendra Gupta alias Aman (22) and the collaborator Sarvesh Kushwaha (32) also got down to save him, but overcome vapors.
Other youth, Israr (22), Mubeen’s brother, also jumped into the tank to save them, but met the same fate.
The villagers threw themselves into the place and managed to pull all four men out. They were transported to the district hospital, where doctors declared Mubeen, Sarvesh and Surendra dead, while Israr remained in a critical condition.
The locals claimed that the victims had entered the sewer without any safety equipment.
The show said that no fir had been filed yet and that men had descended alone to remove the shutter.
