Yusuf Pathan’s Delhi visit questioned: Is TMC MP following Amit Shah’s line? Mahua Moitra’s post raises eyebrows | Today’s news
As the rebel group Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar adds to the woes of former chief minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee, another possible clash has begun to erupt. TMC MP Mahua Moitra targeted his fellow legislator Yusuf Pathan and questioned him over his visit to Delhi.
Mahua Moitra made her way to X to launch a sharp attack on the dissident camp. Moitra said the MPs were elected in 2024 on the mandate of the TMC and not on the support of the NDA. She questioned the legitimacy of any attempt to switch parties while keeping their seats and called on rebel MPs to resign and take part in new elections.
“MPs won in 2024 on TMC ticket. The mandate was NOT for NDA. All greedy self-serving traitors in yellow pants can join BJP now – give up your seats and contest on BJP ticket. Let’s see what big heroes you are,” she wrote.
Moitra further threw down the gauntlet to the dissidents and said, “Let’s see what great heroes you are.”
The legislator then fired a salvo at Yusuf Pathan, accusing him of traveling to Delhi on the lines of Home Minister Amit Shah.
“And @iamyusufpathan are you rushing to Delhi because @AmitShah called you? Have courage. You played for India. Our district voted for you by a big margin. Have some shame and a backbone,” she wrote.
New rebellion in TMC
A rebel group of 20 TMC MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to express their support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“A total of 20 TMC MPs have formally sent a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing their desire to extend support to the NDA, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape of West Bengal and the dynamics of the national parliament,” Dastidar told agencies.
Meanwhile, TMC leader Kirti Azad dismissed the rebel camp’s claim of more than two-thirds of the party’s total strength in the Lok Sabha, calling it a “fake and fabricated” list issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
His reaction came after a picture of a “breakaway group” of 20 Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs seeking to extend support to the NDA went viral on social media.
“This fake and fabricated list was published by BJP. Six of them categorically denied signing any documents/papers. Operation Lotus failed. Amit Shah failed,” Azad wrote on X.
