Given that the High Court in Rajasthan refused to expand its interim bail, Godman Asaram Bapu, who in prison on Saturday (August 30, 2025), performs a life sentence for raping the minor.
Asaram, 84, was provided with a deposit of 7 January this year for the first time in 12 years of imprisonment with regard to medical reasons.
The bench of the High Court of Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur during the hearing of the 27th August released Asaram’s temporary action on bail.
Referring to the report of the Medical Council from the Ahmedabad Government Hospital, the court said that Asaram’s health is stable and does not require hospitalization or continuous medical care.
During negotiations on August 27, Asaram’s lawyer Nishant Bodha claimed that Asaram had been transported to Aiims Jodhpur 21st August, where doctors reported the deterioration of his health.
However, the High Court did not accept this argument and relied on the report of the medical council from Ahmedabad, dismissing a bail.
The court also noted that Asaram had made several trips to treat for the last 3-4 months and was treated in various hospitals in different cities, but in any hospital was not subject to regular monitoring.
