Taylor Townsend released one of the shocks of the American open on Friday evening and expelled Mirr Andreev’s fifth seed in direct sets to secure his place in the fourth round of Grand Slam for the second time in her career.
The 29-year-old American, currently in the world No. 139, won 7-5, 6-2 under the lights of the Arthur Ashe stadium and created one of the best performances of his ten-year career. The result meant her third victory over the opponent of the TOP-10 and continues what the inspired running in New York was.
