The new Benchmark Fitness, implemented under the Indian Force Coach and Adrian Le Roux, adds the current YO-YO tests and 2 kilometers that players must meet. In an interview with Crictracker, Tiwars raised questions about the timing and purpose of the test, especially when India is preparing for the temporary phase before the World Cup 2027.
“Never dreamed about it …”: Great confession Rohit Sharma after retirement from the test cricket
Tiwars also stressed that Rohit could try to re -enter ODI settings if his fitness standards are not except for the brand. He asked why the test was introduced at this particular time, rather than at the beginning of the new head coach. “Why now? Who decided to bring the Bronco test? It’s hard to say, but observation is that players like Rohit consider it difficult if they don’t work on their condition,” he added. Tiwars, who drew parallels with the past stages in the Indian cricket, said that similar fitness scale had previously pushed higher players. “When legends like Gambhir, Sehwag and Yuvraj did well, Yo-Yo test was introduced after the 2011 World Championship. Fitness standards were often used to form a team selection,” he explained. The Bronco test is a challenge focused on endurance, which is commonly used in sports such as rugby. Unlike YO-YO test, which allows short regeneration breaks, the Bronco test requires players to complete continuous shuttles of 20 meters, 40 meters and 60 meters, repeated five times without a pause, covering a total of 1,200 meters. Indian crickets at the highest level are expected to complete it in about six minutes. For the context, the YO-YO test is a 20-meter shuttle with increasing speed and ten-second regeneration intervals, with a minimum sign of the passage of 17.1. The 2 -kilometer time test requires that fast -mounting supervisors end in 8 minutes 15 seconds and dough, sproxions and gates in 8 minutes 30 seconds. The Bronco test decision was reportedly followed by concerns about the level of perseverance during the recent Indian Five England test. Among the fast pitchors, only Mohammed Siraj managed to play all five matches and emphasize the potential gaps in fitness.
