An SHG member from Hanumakonda was invited to address a gathering of local South Asians

A local Self Help Group (SHG) member, Bandi Manemma from Kazipet in the district, has been invited by the Freshwater Action Network South Asia (FANSA) to speak at the Grassroots 2026 rally to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 12-13 June.
Ms. Manemma has been successfully operating a septic tank cleaning unit for some time. In recognition of her work, District Collector Hanumakonda Chahat Bajpai felicitated her on Monday for the collection.
The event was attended by Dr. Raja Reddy, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, and Mandala Parashuramulu, Convener of FANSA Telangana State Chapter.
On the occasion, the Collector congratulated Ms. Manemma and encouraged her to share her experiences and community participation initiatives in septic tank dewatering practices implemented in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits.
Themed ‘Be Seen, Be Heard, Lead Change’, the 2026 South Asia Local People’s Rally aims to highlight community-based solutions in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. The event seeks to strengthen collaboration between communities, governments, civil society organizations, development partners, researchers and policy makers dealing with issues related to water, sanitation, social inclusion and community rights.
