Two technicians from the city were cheated on a total of 2.2 crore cyber fraud with investment fraud. Police in the field of computer crime are now investigating both cases and trying to trace the accused by monitoring money.
In the first case, 31 -year -old Tanmay Mukherjee, a software engineer from Whitefield, lost when he began investing money in the stock market through an application he allegedly withdrew through a link that was sent to him from an unknown issue.
Tanmay initially invested in the application of 50 000 GBP and during June 28 he achieved a decent profit. Then he reportedly invested all his savings of 1.31 crore. However, when he tried to download the money later, he was reportedly asked to invest more to do so. Tanmay realized he was cheated, and filed a complaint on Monday.
In a separate incident, a 36 -year -old DJ Halli software engineer was cheated on 91 ₹ Lakh. In his complaint, the victim said that on July 16, he received a job offer via a message on his telegram account that claimed to earn 5,000 to 10,000 GBP per day if it was accepted. The victim then contacted a person identified as Dhanya of Chennai, who allegedly asked him to review the hotels in exchange in the form of commissions.
According to the victim, he was then added to the WhatsApp group, where he found people who invest money and earn profit on the same day. When the victim considered the same, the accused allegedly lured him by the offer of the bonus for investment 1 Lakh 1 lakh with a certain return of 1.5 lakh. Reportedly followed the procedure and earned 2 lakh. Then he began to invest more by borrowing money from his wife and mother in the melody 91 Lakh, according to the complaint.
The fraud came to light when the victim was reportedly failed to collect the amount even after repeated attempts, after which the accused recommended him to invest more to refund money. The victim filed a complaint against the police on Tuesday.
