A quick response by the police averted a major fire and saved property worth ₹1 crore

Prompt intervention by the police helped avert a major fire in a traffic accident in Sudhama Nagar on Thursday night, saving goods worth an estimated ₹1 crore.

The incident occurred during a firefight at around 4.30pm when a member of the public noticed flames coming from the premises and alerted Namma 112.

Based on this information, Namma 112 personnel immediately informed patrol teams Hoysala-20 and Hoysala-21 attached to Wilson Garden Police Station. Assistant Sub-Inspectors Srikantaiah and Altaf Hussain Dakhani along with Police Constable Nagappa rushed to the spot and found that the fire had already started spreading inside the chasm.

Aware of the seriousness of the situation, the police secured a public water cistern and tried to extinguish the fire before the fire brigade arrived. They also moved several cars and motorcycles parked nearby to safety, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring vehicles and properties.

HZS workers later arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Police said goods worth around ₹1 crore were saved from destruction due to the timely intervention of the Hoysala teams.
