Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said Hyderabad’s future growth depends on decentralized governance, integrated urban planning and large-scale investment in infrastructure as he launched projects worth ₹1,511.5 crore in Malkajgiri and outlined his government’s vision to transform the city into a globally competitive urban hub.

At a public meeting after laying the foundation stones of four major projects under the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC), Mr. Reddy said Hyderabad’s rapid expansion required a new governance model that would be able to serve the 1.34 million people living within the limits of the 160 km Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Mr. Reddy said that Hyderabad cannot aspire to become an international city through rhetoric and branding exercises alone. These ambitions required planned investment in roads, sewage systems, drinking water networks, metro connectivity, energy infrastructure, police and civic services.

The Chief Minister said that the government’s decision to create three municipal corporations within the ORR limits aims to decentralize administration and bring public services closer to citizens. “The aim of the three city corporations is to create administrative structures capable of responding quickly to the needs of the growing urban population,” he said.

Among the projects launched was the proposed Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation office complex at Uppal Bhagayath, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹98 crore. The office will stand on 10 acres of government land and is planned as a G+5 structure with provisions for future expansion up to G+8 floors. The proposed site will have a built-up area of 1,23,960 m2.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the alternative road link work around the AOC center area at a cost of ₹960 crore. The project was designed to solve the traffic problems arising from the restrictions and proposed road closures passing through the defense area. The planned corridor will have a total length of 5.753 km, will include 3.751 km of high grade roads and 2.002 km of elevated corridor. The project will require the acquisition of nearly 49 acres of defense land and over 3,100 m2 of railway land.

Another major project launched was the six-lane flyover from TKR College Junction to Manda Mallamma Junction under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) programme. The flyover was approved at a cost of ₹416 million.

The 2.17 km flyover will be 25 meters wide and will pass through TKR College Junction, Gayatri Nagar Junction and Manda Mallamma Junction along the Inner Ring Road corridor. The project is expected to provide signal-free connectivity between LB Nagar and Owaisi Junction, reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion on one of Hyderabad’s busiest thoroughfares.

In the health sector, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the 100-bed Malkajgiri District Hospital to be constructed at a cost of ₹ 37.5 crore.

The Chief Minister also launched the CURE-1 app, a citizen-centric urban governance platform designed to provide seamless and transparent access to government services through a single digital interface. The platform will act as a single payment gateway that will enable citizens to pay property tax, electricity bills, water bills, transport charges and other government charges without going through multiple portals.
