Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the opposition BJP and BRS leaders to work with the government to speed up the work started to develop the state capital as a global city in the interest of the people.

“At the time of elections we can talk about politics. I request BJP and BRS leaders to join forces with the government crossing political lines to develop the city as there are no elections now,” he said. The Chief Minister particularly criticized Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy for allegedly “fooling around” with BRS Working President KT Rama Rao and creating hurdles in approving projects submitted to the Central Government for approval and assistance.

The Center is yet to respond to several projects, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail extension, Musi rejuvenation and regional ring road. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis played hide and seek when the Telangana government tried to approach him. “He (Mr. Fadnavis) is said to be doing this at the behest of Mr. Kishan Reddy,” he charged.

The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the construction of Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation office. He also initiated projects related to road development in the center of AOC. He said, “Why shouldn’t Mr. Kishan Reddy be questioned? Isn’t he responsible for getting approvals for projects proposed for the city?”

Mr. Revanth Reddy lamented that the Center is not ready to procure the 74 lakh tonnes of paddy purchased by the Telangana government from the farmers. “The Center is ready to buy the entire production from Punjab, but it is ready to take 50 million tonnes out of the 74 LMT produced in Telangana,” he said.

The Musi rejuvenation project, which was supposed to beautify the city and provide gainful employment to local residents as well, was awaiting a response from the centre. “Their (BJP) governments are showing off works to rejuvenate the Sabarmati, Yamuna and Ganga. But the Center is reluctant to extend its assistance to the Musi embankment project,” he wondered.

He warned that the state government would wait for the Centre’s response till June 15, after which it planned further action against the Centre’s indifference in acting on the state’s demands. The Chief Minister said that there was no political consideration in splitting the GHMC into three separate corporations. The sole intention of this move was to decentralize the administration.
