When he left his highly paid work in the UK to return home, Ambrash Kishhore of Thiruvangoor in the Kozhikode district planned to enter the seafood export business. But the fate and his congenital interest in agriculture diverted him into the aquaculture.
She recently won the Best Farmer in the State of the Ministry of Fishing for Mr. Ambrash as the result of his perseverance, hard work and research.
“I resigned from my seafood industry and returned home to set up seafood export trade. But at that time the seafood prices were too high to achieve a decent profit. The coming into the aquaculture was random,” the Hindu said.
Mr. Ambrash was interested in agriculture from a young age. He planned to set up a farm next to his full -time work. But now he is a full -time farmer while his partner Sajith continues to work. He took 18 hectares of water from his cousin and experimented with Pisciculture for several years. “We conducted some research in the field, traveled to several farms around the state and eventually went to breeding for shrimp,” he said.
“Aqua Feast”, his farm, produced 12.5 tons of shrimp in the last harvest season. What started as two ponds and two tanks in 2022 has now developed into four ponds and two tanks.
The ponds were specially designed for the whitteg shrimp (Litopenaeus vanamei). A jacket was built and biological safety was ensured in the process. “We have developed a model farm, so we have several visitors,” said Mr. Ambareesh, who also provided employment in the locality.
At a time when young people in the state are increasingly migrating abroad for study and employment, Mr. Ambrash did the contrary and proved that success is quite accessible to those who work hard at home.
