The need for proper vision of the document for the future development of Kozhikode was emphasized at the seminar organized by the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on Tuesday, August 26).
The head of the opposition VD Satheesan, who opens an event entitled “Kozhikode@2040”, said that Kozhikode boasts proud heritage and inherit, which many other places in Kerala can dream of. He said he witnessed many historical developments, such as the Zanorin era, the arrival of Portuguese and Dutch traders in the 15th century, the dominance of British and freedom. Kozhikode City was the headquarters of the Movement for Independence, because there were a large number of towering leaders.
“Here are a large number of well -known writers … At a time when the naval history turns around the Arab Sea and the Bay of Bengal, Kozhikode’s past can throw light on many unknown facts,” Satheesen said.
The leader of the congress performed the preparation of the correct vision document and set a time frame for its execution. There should be a clarity of mobilization of resources, he said. Mr Satheesan said that large projects should be carried out in the health and education sectors and sustainable industrial development must be provided. Mr. Satheesan was also looking for a smooth urban transport system for Kozhikode. “We must cooperate to make Kozhikode a clean, habitable city of inheritance,” Congress’s leader added. MK Raghavan, Kozhikode MP, moderated a seminar in which people from different areas of life introduced their thoughts. Shafi Parambil, Vadakar, also spoke.
K. Poeenkumar, President DCC, later said that similar seminars and discussions would continue to be held and a development document will be prepared.
