
India HS Prannoy performed a strong start of the BWF World Championships campaign when he secured a direct victory over Joakim Oldorff on Tuesday 26th August.
Prannoy faced the form and fitness after the Paris Olympics, but during the competition against the Finnish ace he looked good. The Indian badminton star didn’t have the best at the beginning when he fell backward, but soon found his range. However, he managed to turn tables to Oldorff at 8-7 with some crushed court breaks.

The Indian ace dominated the assembly in the first game and found that it was heading for a two -point lead. Oldorff, however, held Prannoy on his feet and, after several intense gatherings between the two men, bounced back to equalize the score to 16-16.
Prannoy, however, more supported his tag and decided to trust it even more at the decisive point. He pulled out breaking and two unforced errors from Oldorff gave Indian three game points. While the first, Finnish badminton star hit one shot wide and was enough to seal the first game.
After the change of the ends, Prannoy started strongly in the second game with the leadership of 7-4. The Indian ace, however, in this game decided to rush and its defense to perfection. The block, the elevator came in a clutch for the Indian ace, which forced Oldorff to run around the court and then waited for the chance to earn and secure points.
This helped Prannoy had a three -point pillow during the break. The Indian continued to dominate the assembly when Oldorff began to memorize massively. He had a lead of 19–13 and another breaking around his head meant he had five match points.
A false shot from the Finnish star was enough for Prannoy to get into the second round to face the second seed of Anders Antonsen.
