Demographic changes in border areas are part of the deliberate proposal, the Minister of the Interior of the Union AMIT Shah said on Tuesday (26 August 2025).
Based on the inauguration meeting of a two -day workshop of temporary villages (VVP), in which the main guest was, Mr. Shah said that demographic changes in the border areas directly affect the security of the country and its borders. “It should not be assumed that this happens due to geographical conditions; rather this happens as part of the deliberate design,” he added.
He called for collectors of border districts to take the relevant measures to eliminate illegal religious interventions and state that interventions are part of intentional design. He stressed that all illegal interventions in radius should be removed at least 30 kilometers from the border.
In a statement by the Ministry of the Interior (MHA), Gujarat has done “commendable work in this regard” in this respect.
Mr. Shah said that the program of living villages is based on three key points: prevention of migration from border villages, ensuring that every citizen of the border villages to receive percentage of high school and state government programs, and develop the village within the SVP to strengthen borders and national security.
The centrally sponsored “pulsating village program”, which was launched in 2023, for the comprehensive development of selected villages in the border neighborhoods or northern, northeast and northwestern borders of India.
The second phase of the project started in April 2025 with an expenditure of 6,839 GBP for the financial year 2028-29.
