
The local government department has issued instructions for performing work within the Malinya Muktam Campaign Navakeralalam for waste management for the upcoming year with an increased focus on repressive measures for ejection of waste in public areas. It also focuses on ensuring 100% door collection of not biodegradable waste and 100% processing of biodegradable waste, either in a source or through a waste processing facility in the community.
The next phase of the campaign is scheduled to run in two phases, with the first phase ending in October 2 this year and another 28 February 2026. All local authorities were asked to perform cleaning units on the third Saturday of each month. They must also take the initiative to force railway authorities to remove the waste accumulated in areas near railway lines and land owned by rail. If the railway authorities do not take the necessary steps, the local authority will have to remove waste and collect the costs of railways.
Local teams for district levels at the body level and teams at the district level will increase coercive activities. The Directive also notes that there is a tendency among officials to impose the smallest amount in most cases. The government has now ordered officials to ensure that a fine amount in proportion to the seriousness of crimes under the rules. In cases where they are required, the prosecution and recovery of income must be launched.
In the renewal of commercial business licenses, measures for waste management and waste supply must be ensured. Local authorities will have to deal with the time they received complaints through a single WhatsApp department.
