The two -day workshop about the preparation of idols Clay Ganesha held in Mysuru 22 and 23. August tried to create awareness of the environmental risks of idols made from Paris (POP) and the use of chemical colors on them.
Workshop, organized together by Parisara Balaga; HV Rajeev Sneha Balaga; And the Karnataka State State Controlling Council (KSPCB), the regional office of Mysuru, in Sri Basaveshware Yoga Park in Alanahalli, participated in more than 300 students from 12 different schools.
Participants ranged from the fourth standard students aged to nine to the ninth standard students aged 14 years.
While four craftsmen taught Clay Ganesha’s idols process for students, former chairman of Mysur Urban Development Authority (Muda) HV Rajeev emphasized the need to make sense of meaningfully celebrate the Ganesha with ecological idols instead of celebrating it for Pombo, Grandeur, Grandeur.
Mr. Rajeev said it was necessary to organize multiple programs, such as a workshop on idols of clay, to create awareness of the environment among students and the public.
Parashurame Gowda, a founding member of Parisara Balaga, explained the dangers of submerged Ganesha idols made from pop in water. Pop, produced by plaster, contains a chemical called hemihydrate of calcium sulfate and the idols do not make it in the water, which leads many problems, he said.
The colors used on colored idols contain harmful chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium that contaminate ponds, reservoirs, streams, rivers and other water formations when the idols are immersed, Mr. Gowda said. The soiled water of these bodies becomes harmful to humans and animals that consume it.
Students attending workshop came from different schools, including four in the JSS institution; Mahaveer Jain Vidyalaya; Eeshwara Vidyalaya; Government Higher Elementary School Alanhalli; Viveka Vidyalaya Alanhalli; SNS School Alanhalli; And Shashwatha School.
