
The panel of experts led by the district collector Arjun Pandian on Saturday organized on the spot inspection of the key sections of the NH 544 in Amballur and Muringoor to examine the progress in road work and traffic management measures.
The Temporary Operation Committee was created after the Supreme Court Directive to resolve a serious operating block on the national highway. Other members are RTO and higher police officers.
During the inspection, the panel expressed dissatisfaction with the slow construction and ordered India the National Highway (Nhai) to speed up the completion of service roads.
Water
In Amballur, the collector ordered Nhai officials to immediately correct safety lunges caused by poor lighting. In Muringoor, where local people complained about water due to defective design, he managed corrective measures.
“The district administration is fully aware of the hardships facing the public for transport overload on the highway, and we are firmly impressed to solve it,” said Mr. Pandian.
According to the latest Directive of the Supreme Court, the restriction of the movement of heavy vehicles will be in force during the top hours of next week. Nhai, the police and the RTO were commissioned by the implementation of curbs after a test run. The vacuum boards and public notifications of traffic diversion will also be introduced.
