Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), during which members discussed measures to sustain and accelerate India’s economic growth in an uncertain global environment.

The council is said to have assessed the potential impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia on India and the global economy. “He chaired a meeting of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. He discussed a range of issues related to India’s economic transformation and long-term development priorities,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

“Also shared views on adding more impetus to the path of reforms and ensuring ‘Easy of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’,” Mr. Modi added.

The discussions focused on ideas and policy measures to boost economic momentum at a time of global turbulence, the sources said. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretaries to the Prime Minister PK Mishra and Shaktikanta Das along with members of the advisory body.

The EAC-PM, an independent body set up to advise the Prime Minister on economic and allied matters, is chaired by S. Mahendra Dev. Its permanent members include Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Sanjeev Sanyal and Shamika Ravi. It also consists of 11 part-time members from academia, finance and public policy. They include Rakesh Mohan and Sajjid. Z. Chinoy, Neelkanth Mishra, Nilesh Shah, TT Ram Mohan, Soumya Kanti Ghosh, KV Raju, Chetan Ghate, Pami Dua, Pulak Ghosh and Gourav Vallabh.

The meeting comes against a backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tensions and growing concerns about their implications for global growth and trade and energy markets.
