CET: Poor performance of rural, state college and high school students in Kannada

Compared to private colleges, the performance of government PU colleges was very poor in CET-2026. The performance of rural students is equally poor compared to those from Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, although the ranking of Kannada medium students also remained inadequate.
12 of the top 1000
This year only 12 govt PU students have placed in 1000 CET ranks and this number is 53 in top 5000 ranks. As many as 108 students placed in the top 10,000 rankings. A total of 8,414 students appeared for the CET from government colleges and out of this number, 7,620 appeared this year.
None in the top 100
Government college students had no representation in the CET top 100 rankings. In the top 1000 rankings, only 12 students were listed – five from Bengaluru Urban, two each from Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada and one each from Chitradurga, Kalaburagi and Mysuru.
The performance of students from rural areas has been below average as only 79 students are in the top 1000 ranks and 499 are in the top 5000 ranks. As many as 1,292 are in the top 10,000 rankings.
The performance of Kannada medium students is also poor, with only nine in the top 1000 ranks and 75 in the top 5000 ranks. There are 226 of them in the top 10,000 ranking.
