The Aam Aadmi (AAP) and Congress condemned the attack on the main Minister Delhi Rekha Gupt, while questioning the police about the question of women’s security in the national capital.
Mrs. Gupta was reportedly attacked during the program “Jan Sunwai” in its official residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) in the morning, BJP said. According to the leader of the police, the accused was detained and further investigation is underway.
Former Chief Minister Delhi Arvind Kejriwal stressed that there are differences in opinions and opposition in the democratic system, but there can be no place for violence.
“I am convinced that the police in Delhi will take the right steps. I hope the main minister will remain completely safe and healthy,” he said in post X in Hindi. Atishi condemned the attack on her successor and repeated similar views as Supremo AAP.
“The attack on the main Minister Delhi Rekha Gupta is highly condemned. There is room for disagreement and opposition in democracy, but none for violence,” she said in the post of X in Hindi. She expressed hope that the police in Delhi would take the strictest steps against the culprits. “I also want the main minister to be completely safe,” she added.
Former Minister Delhi and President AAP Dilli Saubh Bharadwaj said that all parties should clearly condemn such acts. “There is no room for violence in democracy. We will fully slam this incident. Whenever the former main minister Delhi Arvind Kejriwal was attacked, BJP spokesman said that people were angry, and the incidents became fair,” he said.
Congress chief Delhi Devender Yadav criticized the attack and called him extremely sad. “It is condemnable that the main minister was attacked.
