Chairman of the Board of Directors for Social Workers of Tamil Nadu, Thippopamatti V. Aruchami, said that the government would provide the district of five automated wastewater treatment machines as soon as the district collector sent an application.
At the event organized by Tamil Nadu ADI Dravidar and Housing Development Corporation (Tahdco) in Udhagamandalam on Monday, Mr. Aruchami said that machines, each with 50 lakh, were already functional in the state.
Mr. Aruchami gave assistance to social care to 10 hygienic workers for the event. He also said that commissioners of the municipality, executive officers from Panchayats and block development officers were asked to share details of the number of hygienic workers employed at each department in the district. He said that if there was any lack of labor, it would be immediately warned and that would be handed over to the main minister.
Local bodies were also directed to provide equipment for hygienic staff, including gloves, masks and shoes, added.
Mr. Aruchami also stated that steps should be taken to make a complaint day, specifically for hygienic employees, to be able to deal with their concerns. Sanitary staff called to benefit from medical screening camps to be held as part of the NAAM Kaakum Stalin system, and also referred to the district administration to first priority to the projects for the Kalaignar Kanava Illam program.
Sanitation workers protest
At the beginning of the day, hygienists presented protest outside the collector’s office who demanded the regulation of working workers of contracting workers employed by the local authorities and stopped outsourcing.
The demonstrators stated that the minimum wage determined by the district collector was not paid to them, while the suppliers also did not pay the Provisional Fund (PF) and State Insurance (ESI) for the staff they employ.
Sanitation workers under the auspices of the Municipal and Local Administration Nilgiris District District and Local Administration (emotion) on Monday organized a protest in front of the collector’s office and demanded that the rights of hygiene employees be respected.
