The former Indian cricket and current chairman of the selectors on the cricket board in India (BCCI), Ajit Agarkar, made a surprising revelation that Sanju Samson was given game time in recent T20 International just because, like SHUBMAN GILL and Yashsvi, Jaiswal were not available.
Acceptance comes as a surprise as many believed Extended run in the shortest format After retirement of older stars Virt Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
From Gautam Gambhir’s Appointment as head coach, the Indian introductory combination was considered one of the few seated places. Gill’s return to the set-up as a vice-capital-VŠAK significantly suggests that he will get back the opening role for the Asia Cup, which will potentially build Samson’s place to endanger XI.
“When you choose the T20i group, you also look at the IPL performance. Because of the overlapping series, many players ended in playing the T20 cricket when others were away with the test team. It doesn’t take anything from them as T20 players,” Agarkar said during the Squad press conference.
“Sanju played because SHUBMAN and YASHASVA were not available at that moment. Likewise, Abhishek was. Abhishek’s performances made it difficult, plus his bowling was useful.
When Agarkar asked XI playing, he said clearly and said that these decisions were with captain Suryakumar Yadav and the head coach Gambhir. Yet he expressed satisfaction with the depth of the team.
“It is their headache to choose a set of launching. Our task was to choose 15. As for the T20 cricket, we have some real depth, and we are very happy about it,” he concluded.
India will start the Asia Cup campaign against the United Arab Emirates 10 September.
