Flood water discharge from the SRIAMSAGAR SRIAMSAGAR project started on Monday morning, 15 days earlier compared to last year, since there was a significant flood with heavy rains in the immediate upstream of the basin in Telangana and Mahara.
The project engineers launched the release of floods from the spillway around 10.40 hours by raising 9 ridge gates to release 25,000 cusecs into the river. “At around 12:30, another 15 gates were raised to increase the discharge to 75,000 CUSEC and at 1.25 an additional 10 gates were raised to further increase the release to 1.25 Lakh Cusecs,” said the project engineer, who monitors the floods.
Later, another five gates were raised around 16:00 to increase the discharge to 2 lakh Cusecs from a total of 39 gates and by 20:00 one of the gates was closed and the overall discharge dropped to more than 1.32 lakh Cusecs from 38 gates, because the tide decreased into the project.
Project engineers said the Spillway gates of projects were canceled on 2 September in 2024, 27 July 2023, 10 July in 2022, 22 July in 2021, 14 September in 2020 and 21 September 2019.
As part of the plans to fill in the Mid Manair and Lower Manair dams, as well as tanks associated with the Kaleshwaram project such as Annapurna, Ranganayaka, Malllannasagar, Kondapocammasagar, Nrusimhasagar (Baswapur), which get water from MID Manair Dam, water to the water channel to the channel to the channel to the channel canal. It started with 3,000 CUSEC at 11:30, increased to 5,000 CUSEC to 13:00 and to 10,000 CUSECS to 17:00 August 17th. On Monday (August 18), it further increased to 15,000 CUSECS and to 18,000 CUSEC, which is screened to 1.5 TMC FT in 24 hours.
On Sunday, the release of the floods from the spill of Singur and Nizamsagar projects, based on the Manjeer, the tributary of Godavari, completed the flood to Sriramsagar by adding to the floods in the main river Godavari. As on Monday evening, both projects released the flood 43 150 CUSECS and 1.25 Lakh Cusecs.
The Sriramsagar Yellampally released the flood of 1.69 Lakh Cusecs, Annaram Barrage 1.4 Lakh Cusecs, Medigadda Barrage 4.29 Lakh Cusecs. On the other hand, Gaddam released 34,500 CUSECS. Mid Manair won the flood 18 600 CUSECS at 20:30
