Printing of 2.8 million first volume textbooks completed: KBPS
The Kerala Books and Publications Society (KBPS) has announced that it has completed the printing of 2.8 million first volume textbooks required for the academic year 2026-27 for classes I to X.
This represents 80% of the total number of textbooks in the first volume. The press is progressing at a faster pace, the organization said in a statement. Efforts are on to complete the process by the first week of June. Once completed, printing of the second volume, which students are requesting by October, will begin.
A total of 5.5 million textbooks in two volumes must be printed for these classes. According to the organization, the printing of textbooks in Tamil, Kannada and other minority languages, except activity textbooks, has also been completed.
Although there is a shortage of paper to print the cover pages, steps are being taken to resolve the problem and printing is continuing.
The distribution of books to district textbooks and school societies is in the final stage, the organization added. The process is expected to be completed within a week. Distribution from district centers to school societies is done with the support of Kudumbashree.
