The FIFA World Cup, featuring 48 national teams, is less than a week away and football fans are eager to show their loyalty to their favorite teams and players.

Enter the room of Muhammed Roshan, 24, a psychology graduate-turned-social media influencer from Thrikkunnapuzha village in Haripad, and one feels transported to a museum dedicated to Portugal, or more specifically to Portugal’s superstar forward and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who at the age of 41 is set to play his sixth and probably last World Cup. From the roof to the floor and from the sheets to the mats, everything has been customized with the twin themes of Portugal and Ronaldo. There’s even a football field-style floor mat.

“I’ve been a Ronaldo fan all along and that automatically made me a Portugal supporter,” said Mr Roshan, who spent months and nearly ₹100,000 transforming his bedroom into a tribute to his idol and the team. The walls are covered in Ronaldo wallpaper in various shades, but the centerpiece is a collection of framed jerseys from the five clubs in the five countries that Ronaldo represented during his glittering career spanning more than two decades – Sporting CP (Portugal), Manchester United (England), Real Madrid (Spain), Juventus (Italy) and Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia).

“It was not easy to find customized materials or places to make them. Being active on Instagram and as a vlogger helped me because I gathered information from different sources, including those from other districts. The roof was adapted to the design of the Portuguese national flag,” said Mr. Roshan.

At first, his family was concerned about the extreme lengths he went to to demonstrate his fandom. But now they seem to have accepted it or resigned to it, as his room has become a spectacle in itself, attracting visitors, including the media.

After creating the perfect atmosphere to celebrate the World Cup, Mr. Roshan is now waiting for the moment when his idol will finally lift the one trophy missing from his list of accolades.
