Former Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T. Harish Rao claimed that the engines in Kaleshwaam are intentionally turned on and turned off twice a day and risk permanent damage to machines.
“It is not a household pumps. Each engine consumes energy equivalent to the entire district. Repeated operations on and off could destroy them, causing losses worth thousands of Crores,” he warned.
On Sunday (August 17, 2025), when he spoke with reporters in Siddipet, he said he saw a criminal conspiracy and the government of Telangans must be cleaned. He also claimed that government “criminal negligence” in the management of irrigation projects causes irreparable damage to farmers throughout Telangana.
He said that reservoirs like Ranganayak Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, Kondapocamma Sagar and Baswapur remain largely empty, despite huge infra and projects
“By simply operating engines in Nandi Medaram, two TMC water can be pumped daily to MID Manair. From there it could be released into various tanks to irrigate the lacquer of acres. Why doesn’t the government do?” He asked.
“Farmers know the value of every drop, but the current rulers are not. The former CM K. Chandrashkhar Rao ensured that every drop was used. Today, farmers suffer because of the inactivity of this government,” said the accusing Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

He said that MID Manair Reserve with a capacity of 30 TMC has only 10 TMC, while LMD, which can store 24 TMC, currently has only seven TMC. Similarly, Baswapur with a capacity of 12 TMC barely half TMC and Mallanna Sagar (capacity 50 TMCS) has only 10 TMC.
Mr. Harish Rao also warned that if the government could not act, the farmers, along with BRS activists, took over the control and turned on Kaleshwaram Motors to ensure water supply.
It required immediate pumping two TMC water daily from Yellampalli to Mid Manair and from there to other tanks, including the Ranganayak Sagar, Malanna Sagar, Kondapocamma Sagar and Baswapur to save the crop.
