The Minister of Income Krishna Byre Gowda warned on Saturday an assistant to the Commissioners (ACS) against the acknowledgment of cases beyond their legal jurisdiction.
The Minister chaired the monthly inspection meeting with ACS through a video conference and stated that some officers register civil cases that should be tried in the Civic Courts. “No officer has the power to admit cases outside his jurisdiction. Citizens cannot be denied their legitimate rights, but the law cannot be circumvented,” he warned.
The Minister expressed my displeasure over ACS issuing orders that lacked legal status. He said that ACS in five districts accepted orders exceeding their powers, and representatives of the commissioners were asked to ask and submit messages for the next event. “From now on, each order must clearly mention the act and section by which it is issued,” he ordered.
Regarding the delay of the disposal of cases, the Minister noted that AC courts currently have 18,000 cases waiting for more than six months, 14,000 for more than a year and 4,000 in more than five years. He ordered that no case should wait for more than four months and sought to destroy all long -term cases.
“It is not acceptable that even if the goals are set for the liquidation of waiting cases within two months, even after six months that are not met. All waiting cases must be resolved quickly,” added the Minister.
