Waqf Board inspector arrested by ACB for accepting bribe in Nalgonda

A Waqf Board inspector posted in Nalgonda district was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Saturday for accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The accused officer has been identified as Shaik Mahmood.

The authority said the officer demanded money in exchange for submitting a factual report to the director general of the Waqf Board in Hyderabad. The report was about a complaint dated 25 February 2025 regarding the registration of Jaame Masjid Abubakar Siddiq Rahmatulla Alai, a Peddavoor property in the records of the Waqf Board.

The tainted amount was recovered and he was produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by civil servants through the toll-free number 1064 or official social media platforms and ensure that the identity of the complainants is kept confidential.
