India welcomed interviews between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Alaska on Friday, who did not see an immediate ceasefire, but paved the way to the possible end of war in Ukraine initiated by Moscow.
“India welcomes a meeting of the summit on Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their management is very commendable in the effort of peace,” said the Ministry for External Affairs.
Mea said India “appreciates” the progress he has made during TRUMP-TRUMIN interviews, urged diplomacy and dialogue to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, which lasts for more than three years.
“India appreciates the progress made to the summit. The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see the end of the conflict soon in Ukraine,” he said.
Trump-Putin Talks on Alaska
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on a military air base on Alaska on Friday to discuss the Ukrainian war, but could not bring a ceasefire for several hours.
Trump said that the only way to stop the war in Ukraine is to sign a peace agreement rather than a “mere” truce that will not solve the problem.
He confirmed that on Monday, Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelsky invited interviews in the White House, and if everything went well, a possible trilateral meeting between countries is in the horizon.
Why does India take care of Trump-Tump’s interviews?
While Trump-Putin’s interviews are of global importance due to the nature of the war in Ukraine, India carefully monitored the development because this is a consequence of its purchase of Russian oil.
Last month, Donald Trump doubled the Indian tariffs to 50 percent for a punishment for buying Russian oil, and a potential peace agreement would mean that tariffs are turned to the new Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with Zelena around the bilateral cooperation of countries and the overall diplomatic situation. The Ukrainian President revealed that PM Modi and he agreed to the meeting personally on the outskirts of the UN General Assembly in September and “work on the exchange of visits”.
PM Narendra Modi also discussed the sanctions on Russia, including the limitation of the export of Russian energy, during his conversation with Zelena, said the Ukrainian leader.
Jaishankar speaks with British lammy in Ukraine
On Saturday, the Minister of External Affairs also published Jaishankar and said he had an interview about Ukraine with British Foreign Minister David Lammy. The United Kingdom is part of NATO, whose leaders spoke to Trump after interviews on Alaska.
“You will appreciate the challenge of British Foreign Minister David Lammy. Our discussions concerned the recent development of Ukraine and other questions,” Jaishankar said.
MODI Thank you Zelezky on the day I-day
The growing relationship between India and Ukraine can also be perceived how Zelsky wanted India on Friday and PM Modi thanked him.
“Thank you President Zelenkyy for your warm greetings. I deeply appreciate the common commitment to create even closer ties between India and Ukraine. We seriously wish our friends in Ukraine marked with peace, progress and prosperity,” he writes on X.
