Opposition parties on Thursday (August 14, 2025) welcomed the instructions of the Supreme Court to the Indian Election Commission to take steps to increase the special intensive revision (Sir) more transparent, but stated that observation illustrated shortcomings in the process that require debate in parliament. On Monday, a challenge will be accepted at the meeting of the floor leaders to continue the protests against Sir in the last week of the monsoon meeting of parliament, which ends on 21 August.
In an interview with the Hindu Secretary of the Congress (Organization) KC Venugopal, who is also the petitioner, he said that the opposition campaign will end when all Sir problems are solved. “We will decide on our parliamentary strategy on this matter on Monday morning, when the opposition parties’ floor leaders meet,” he said.
The Secretary General of CPI (ML) Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the question of legality Sir must be determined by the Supreme Court. The provisional order, said, is dealing with some basic objections, but for 3.5 million migrant workers whose names were hit, it remains up to them to object. “The extent of exclusion is huge, the time is short and most voters have been unjustly punished without their own guilt. The attacked repair should also be donated to the perpetrators,” he said.
The leader of DMK Rajya Sabha flooring Tiruchi Siva, who praised the instructions of the Supreme Court, said he had made his short judgment and is now playing his role for the legislators. “The judiciary has come to save democracy, now it is on the legislative choir to protect it,” he said.
The Secretary General of CPI (M) Ma Baby in the X post said that Sir’s debate exceeds mere revision and raises concerns about “systemic sabotage” in the list of voters that could undermine democracy. Rajya’s floor leader Sabha John Brittas said that the opposition protests have begun against Sir in Bihar, but since then there have been other evidence of falsification of voters’ lists to be addressed.
“We have to consider the election process of AO how to ensure its sanctity. On Monday we will accept the call considered on how to proceed,” he said.
Rajya Sabha Trinamool Congress Saket Gokhale said that the instructions of the Supreme Court partially prove the accusation of the opposition and the matter must be discussed in parliament. “Even before the Supreme Court resolved the matter, the EC announced its intentions to perform such exercises in West Bengal and Assam. This shows that its ominous agenda manipulates the elections. Why it is so hurry,” he asked.
