Alpinia Galanga is widely grown in Pathanamita, Kottayam and Idukki, where farmers grow it as an intercropus on rubber plantations. The ginger department has many applications in traditional medicines.

Farmers dealing with the cultivation of Alpinia Galanga use the export market because it has a specialized market in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Malaysia. For the cultivation of this variety, medium shady areas with moist soil are rich in organic matter with good drainage. This plant is also useful for farmers in human conflict zones, because it is considered repulsive animals such as monkeys.
