(PTI photos) Former India Off-Spinner R Ashwin explained that Sanju Samson’s store for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by Rajasthan Royals (RR) is “bleak” because no team of IPL gets anything.“Why the CSK-RR store will not work, because if Sanju is traded on CSK, and RR will try to trade with other teams, it is unlikely to get valuable players in return,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.“For example, if RR wants Spinner, such as Ravi Bishnoi, and approach LSG, the problem is that if LSG acquires Sanju and distributes Bishnoi, he must also manage the remaining wallet needed to maintain Sanju – which becomes LSG responsibility.”The thirty -year -old first represented RR from 2013 to 2015 and returned in 2018 after several seasons with Delhi Daredevils. In 2021 he took over as a captain and in 2022 led the team to the IPL finals, their first since the first victory of the title in 2008. However, the team released two of its best players, Jos Buttle and Yuzvendra Chahal, before 2025 Mega auction, despite their orange and Purple Cap victory in 2022.

In IPL 2025, Samson performed in only nine out of 14 matches due to secondary tension, with Parag entered into the stand-in captain. RR ended the season in ninth place with just four wins.Ashwin explained that Chennai usually avoids trading with players and is very unlikely that 18 GBP players would match to match Samson’s agreement.“CSK does not generally believe in trading. They will not trade players like Ravindra Jadeja or Shivam Dube,” he said.“So, most likely, Sanja coming to CSK is bleak because of the reason I explained. RR has little to get from this kind of business,” he added.
