Tottenham Hotspur condemned online racial abuse focused on French striker Mathys Tel after their defeat UEFA Super Cup on Paris Saint-Germain. Spurs, who won the European League at the beginning of this year, seemed to race for another trophy on Wednesday when they raced on the leadership of 2-0 in Italy Udine. PSG, however, organized a dramatic return, which equalized the 94th minute from Goncalo Ramos and eventually won 4-3 for fines.
Tel and Dutch defender Micky van de out both missed their shoes in a shootout. The tel, which came as a replacement in the 79th minute, had the courage to strengthen despite the high -pressure situation.
Tottenham issued a statement on Thursday and said, “We are disgusted by the racial abuse that Mathys Tel received on the social media after the UEFA Super Cup defeat. Mathys has shown the bravery and the courage to move forward and take punishment, but those who abuse him are able to identify.
Twenty -year -old tel joined Spurs on a permanent agreement from Bayern Munich in June after the initial four -month rental charm. Last season he performed 20 performances for the club, scored three goals and was an unused replacement in the final victory of Tottenham’s European League over Manchester United.
This incident is followed by growing concerns about online abuse. England defender Jess Carter recently revealed that she was aimed at racist reports during the Euro 2025, which caused the lioness to stop taking anti-racist knees before the matches and said it was “clear that we and football we have to find another way to deal with racism”.
In June, the British tennis players, including Katie Boulter, also called for a stricter social media action after a regular receipt of gross content and the threat of death.
During the Super Cup, Tottenham appeared minutes from victory before PSG organized a late return. Van de out saw his punishment, while Tel’s efforts have spread, allowing Nuno Mendes to convert a decisive point kick for European champions.
Tottenham’s fixed answer emphasizes the club’s commitment to protect its players and fights online abuse and sends a clear message that racial intolerance will not be tolerated in football.
