Rahul Gandhi told Monday in Pune that he was facing a threat to a life that quotes his recent political battles and the complainant’s line Satyaki Savarkar in case of defamation against him.
The leader of the Congress and the leader of the opposition of Lok Sabha was also looking for “preventive protection” according to the state, reporting a bar and a bench.
He called on a court that hears the case of defamation to recognize what he described as “serious concerns” in his security and fair proceedings in this case.
What is the case against Rahul Gandhi?
The case was filed by Satyaki Savarkar after Rahul Gandhi in March 2023 in London quoted Savarkar’s writings in which Savarkar and others allegedly attacked a Muslim man and described him as “pleasant”.
Satyaki Savarkar denied that there is any such account in the published works of Savarkar, claiming that the notes were false, misleading and defaming.
He was looking for Gandhi convicts according to the 500 IPC section and compensation according to Section 357 CRPC.
The court will also hear the matter of 10 September.
What is the Satyaki Savarkar line?
In an application submitted by Milind Dattatraya, Rahul Gandhi, he quoted a statement made by Satyaki Savarkar, where he explicitly acknowledged that he was a direct descendant of Nathurama Gods and GoPal Gods, through his parent line, bar and abdomen.
Nathhuram Godse was the main accused in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
According to Satyaki Savarkar, quoted by Rahul Gandhi, Savarkar also claims to descend from Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
Rahul Gandhi’s request
Rahul Gandhi’s request said the complainant line was associated with the “documented history of violent and unconstitutional tendencies”, which created “clear and adequate concerns” that the leader of the congress could be damaged, falsely involved, showed a bar and a bench.
“Given the history of the grave associated with such a line, the defense has a real and adequate concern that history must not be allowed to repeat itself,” he read the request.
