Minister Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday on Wednesday reviewed the situation with rainfall in the state at a meeting with ministers and higher officials and called for urgent preventive measures, effective use of incoming water resources and continuous monitoring of the situation to ensure lives and assets.
“We have to stay from the situation and protect lives,” Mr. Naida stressed at the meeting.
In the key directive, Mr. Naida ordered up to 4 TMC FT incoming flood waters to be diverted daily to fill the somasil and candaler tanks rather than allow the water to flow into the sea.
Officials reported a significant influx from the upper river basins such as Mylavaram, into the streams of Budamera and the Velegaler, which are released into the Krishna River.

Mr. Naidu sanctioned Crore 40 GBP for the Budmer-Velagaler tunnel and ordered the diversity of the budmer channel to be completed on the war.
Given that meteorological officials continued in heavy rainfall in the coming days, the main minister ordered officials to monitor the lightning flood situations in streams and tributaries of Krishna and to issue early alerts to the lower villages and low -laid areas.
According to the waters’ department, 5 lakhs can touch the tide to Krishna by Thursday. Currently, 3.09 Lakh Cusec is setting through 35 gates of the Prakasam Bar, with another 5,000 CUSECS diverted to the channels.
The gates on the Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala dams were also raised. Mr. Naida asked the relevant district administrations to prepare for evacuations in vulnerable areas and clean stagnant water from roads and drains.
Meanwhile, flood water from the conaveeti vaga and paala vaga are pumped into the Krishna. Mr. Naida ordered the instant removal of mud and water from the channels to ensure smooth water flow and strengthen the waterfront of channels and tanks to prevent violation.
He called the rain opportunities for groundwater recharging and the main minister asked the Panchayati Raj and Forest department to identify suitable places for trenches and to take digging works within MGNGS to maximize rural water retention.
With the reservoirs and the rivers that differ, Mr. Naida asked officials to stay on the readiness, to maintain direct communication with farmers and to provide people with real -time updates.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Anith, Minister of Water Resources Department Nimmal Ramanaida, chief secretary of the KS Vijayanand and officials of management of disasters, agriculture and water resources.
