The CCTV visuals from Delhi Ramesh Nagar emerged online and showed city workers who catch stray dogs after midnight, armed with networks and work in pairs to lift animals. The late night drive monitors the recent Supreme Court Directive to round and protect everyone wandering in the Delhi and the region of the capital (NCR).
The shots show that dog catchers roam with streets with nets. In one clip you can see the trio on the scooter to capture a blucine dog, while one man holding the animal while the other helps to raise. Similar operations were also seen on Tuesday near Rajghat in Nový Delhi, Indian Express reported. However, it was not clear whether these men were allowed by employees missing the municipal municipalities of Delhi.
The Supreme Court Regulation, issued on Monday, was aimed at solving an increase in cases of bite of dogs and rabies. He ordered the authorities to move all stray dogs from residential sites to designated shelters and required a status report on implementation.
While several resident social associations (RWAS) welcomed this step, activists for animal rights expressed a strong opposition. They argue that civic bodies lack sources to carry out such extensive relocation and that the methods used can cause anxiety and injury to animals.
The video set out to outrage online. One user remarked: “If compassion is sacrificed for comfort, all that remains in us is hollow.” Another called the “inhuman” operation.
“I can’t show it, oh, dear, help these souls,” wrote the third user.
“That’s heartbreaking,” he wrote fourth.
In the growing criticism of the chief judge of India Bravai, he assured that the court would look at the decision again. The bench was informed about the previous court order, which banned the relocation or killing of stray dogs and ordered compliance with the existing laws on good animal life conditions.
“I will look at it,” said the chief judge, increasing the hopes among animals lovers who believe that the removal of dogs from the streets is not a solution.
