WHO IS MANAV SUTHAR?

Suthar began his first-class journey for Rajasthan in February 2022 during a match against Andhra Pradesh where he took his first wicket in the format. Since his debut, the left-arm all-rounder has featured in 29 first-class competitions, picking up 129 wickets while maintaining a paltry economy rate of 2.94.

His last red-ball game came against Himachal Pradesh in January, where he produced an excellent all-round performance. Suthar hit a century, scored 120 runs in Rajasthan’s first innings and also took seven wickets in the entire match.

With the bat, Suthar amassed 945 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 25.54, including one century and six fifties. His contributions also extend beyond the longer format. In 25 List A appearances, he took 34 wickets at an economy rate of 4.41, while his 28 T20 matches yielded 25 wickets at 7.33 runs per over.

The 23-year-old has been eyed by the Indian selectors as a promising prospect for some time. Ever since earning a call-up to the national team’s preparation camp ahead of the 2023 World Cup, the lower-order batting all-rounder has remained firmly in contention for higher honours.

Suthar has been part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the IPL this season alongside Gill and has played four matches and picked two wickets.
