LPG Price Today – June 6: How expensive is a commercial and domestic cylinder in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai | Today’s news
LPG Price Today: Commercial and domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder costs remained steady on Saturday after the latest hike announced on June 1. The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders was increased by ₹42, but no change in domestic cylinder prices has been announced.
In the last six months, commercial LPG prices have almost doubled, taking into account the latest hike. The latest revision of LPG prices corresponds to the sixth revision in the first half of 2026, as the US-Iran war caused a disruption in the supply of cooking gas.
RBI raises FY27 CPI inflation projection amid global energy crisis
India’s central bank on Friday projected retail inflation for 2026-27 at 5.1 percent. This estimate is higher than the previous forecast of 4.6% amid the global energy crisis due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This estimate was driven by assembly input costs due to increases in petrol and diesel. Retail fuel prices have cumulatively increased by 7.4 percent for gasoline and 8.4 percent for diesel over the past month.
In his monetary policy statement on June 5, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said, “CPI inflation for this year is now expected to be 5.1%, about 50 basis points higher than earlier, with Q1 at 4.2%, Q2 at 5.1%, Q3 at 5.9% and Q4 at 5.4%,” Malhotra said. “Core inflation is projected at 4.7% this year,” he said, suggesting that the trajectory of domestic inflation faces immediate pressure from the energy sector.
The recent increase in fuel prices has a direct impact on headline inflation of about 36 basis points. In its monetary policy statement, the RBI said second-order effects will also be reflected in consumer price inflation (CPI) in the coming months.
With the domestic outlook constrained by supply chain disruptions and sub-normal forecast of southwest monsoon, Governor Malhotra said, “Prices of several inputs such as commercial LPG, industrial raw materials, chemicals, base metals, rubber and plastic products, among others, have increased.” According to the RBI governor, higher input costs could exert inflationary pressure on CPI inflation in the coming months as firms would pass on these higher input costs.
