Sricakulam MLA Gonda said on Monday that the state government in cooperation with the archaeological survey of India (probably) is taking steps to protect the architecture and painting of the historical temple of Sri Kurmanathesware Swama, Gara Mandal, Sricakulam.
He stressed that the protection of culture and tradition is the responsibility of every individual, because it is a real wealth to be handed over to future generations.
He praised the efforts of writers and archaeological experts who took over the initiative for the protection of sculptures, inscriptions, murals in the temple premises that were damaged for various reasons.
In the MLA press release, she said that this paintings show the childhood of Lord Krishna and his activities. The Sri Kurmam temple is a devoted temple of the Lord Vishnu seen in the form of a turtle, one of his incarnations.
Mr. Shankar hoped that many pilgrims would visit the temple because the government improved the infrastructure including roads, cottages and other development.
He called on the devotees visiting the nearby Arasavilli Sri Suranarayana Swama to also visit the Sri Kurmam temple and take Darshan, who is just 10 km away.
